How Medical precision billing works
The medical billing process we use.
A one-time process for new registrations.
- To register with Precision Medical Billing Services, the doctor must complete our registration form and provide a provider number that is reserved for our use. This ensures that private health funds will send payments and correspondences to the correct address.
- If needed, an additional provider number can be set up. We will provide the doctor with private health fund application forms, which we will fill out and just require a signature.
- Once these forms are returned to us, it typically takes private health funds 2-4 weeks to complete the registration process.
The ongoing billing process we use is straightforward and easy to follow.
- To begin the billing process, the doctor should send us the necessary billing information using the template we provide, which includes a space for the hospital brand sticker.
- This information can be sent via email or postal mail, and we recommend sending it regularly to ensure that no billings are missed.
- Once we receive the billing information, it is typically processed within 5 business days, although we often process it faster.
- During the billing process, we perform verification checks to ensure that the patient’s Medicare and health fund details are accurate.
- If there are any incorrect details or missing information, we will follow up to resolve the issue. No Gap bills are claimed electronically through ECLIPSE, which allows for faster assessment and payment by Medicare and the health fund.
- All other bills, including No Gap, Known Gap, Worker’s Compensation, and private patient billing, are processed by us according to your preferences.
- We regularly check for outstanding accounts and send reminders for prompt payment.
- Every two weeks, we send a payment summary report showing the billings that have been paid, along with an invoice for our processing fee.
Private health funds have varying payment cycles, with some paying claims overnight and others taking up to two weeks. DVA online payments are typically processed and paid overnight.
